JOHN IS CURRENTLY ON HIS SPRING TRIP TO UKRAINE. PLEASE KEEP HIM IN YOUR PRAYERS.

Update–August 11, 2023

Photo: After the worshipping assembly in Ivano-Frankivsk people are given the opportunity to search and select items they need. Recent shipments have included clothing and shoes. Other relief supplies are also made available and the FAMILY BUCKETS are a constant request.

Thank you so much for humanitarian aid. Last Sunday after worship, we gave out clothes and all members and guests needing them loved trying them on and getting what they wanted. People felt some relief from the stresses of war this way and you can see that they were very pleased.

News from Ivan Skoleba

Greetings, brother John! This week has been very stressful with lots of air raid warnings. People are stressed out. Putin is constantly threatening and we are constantly praying that the Almighty will continue to protect His People.

Once again many are trying to leave the bombings and are traveling west. There are long lines of women, children and elderly people at the border. People are out there in 30-degree Celsius heat. Some faint, some suffer strokes and ambulances take them to hospitals. It is a crazy situation. It seems that the whole country has gone over the edge.

We, the men, have already come to terms realizing that if it is God’s will, we cannot change it and cannot hide anywhere from God’s wrath. And so, we are committed to remain strong in faith and not allow fear to cause us to become weak. But we feel for our children and grandchildren. Despite all of these problems, we continue doing what we can in construction of the church building and preaching the Word of God. It is amazing how the construction has progressed to this point where the building is critical.

And it is good that we are able to focus on the help and support that people need at this horrible time instead of giving way to our fears and problems all the time.

Church of Christ is a place of salvation for people. Inna, a displaced person from Kramatorsk, said so. She and her friend Lena come to the Church all the time. They also take part in Church activities. We rejoice that God is working with us in difficult circumstances.

Thank you for your prayers. May God be with you in everything you do.  We love you, Ivan and Svitlana

News from Alexandr (Sasha) Rodichev

In terms of safety, we’ve had a lot of air alerts in the last couple weeks. But the air defenses are working well and have been successful in shooting down missiles and drones.

Last Saturday we had a wedding and a couple from Bakhmut got married. All their family and friends who are also from Bakhmut came from different parts of the country. The non-believers among the guests were able to get to know the migrant Christians and appreciate the fact that you can have family and friends in almost any city.

We also have several displaced families living with us right now. We have 11 of us living in the church house right now. And we still try to get to know 10-20 different people in a week that we invite to church. In some cases we try to help them as much as we can. But we also need help in preparing for the winter. The winter is expected to be more difficult this year. Our transformer stations and power plants do not have a stock of spare parts now. Many stations have not been restored. Now in summer people do not use electricity much and our country can import electricity from other countries. Before the war we exported our electricity to these countries. In winter they will not be able to provide us with exports. We are preparing for the fact that we may have failures with gas and electricity.
