Update on Jennifer’s condition
As you know, Jennifer suffered a massive 9mm “brain bleed” in the early morning hours of April 1. She had brain surgery to drain the blood from the brain. Further complicating her physical situation was a bowel obstruction (Ileus). Consequently, she was on her back and without any food or liquid by mouth for 23 days. After 29 days she was released from the hospital and sent to rehabilitation. Following 14 days in the rehabilitation hospital, she went to Columbia, TN, where our son-in-law (Brian, married to Bekah) has rehab clinics. Brian has conducted intense daily rehab therapy, and Jennifer has responded well. We are to return to Montgomery this Sunday after worship. Jennifer has two post-op appointments scheduled. She will return to Columbia on Thursday to continue the therapy.
Her recovery and progress have allowed me to reschedule a trip to Poland and Ukraine. Thankfully, her sister (Joyce) and sister-in-law (Terry Jean) told me at the beginning that they were willing and eager to stay with Jennifer if I needed to travel. So, Jennifer will be staying with Bekah and Rachel, surrounded and stimulated by 7 grands, able to continue the intense daily therapy, and have Joyce and Terry Jean as constant company and encouragers.
My travel to Ukraine comes at a critical time as “grievous wolves” are threatening the congregation. Gif is doing a fantastic job. My going will add to the defense and will allow me to teach lessons on “Satan’s Strategies for Destroying the Church.” The lessons will bluntly address the danger. I was to have gone in April, but Jennifer’s stroke caused me to postpone any travel because I did not feel comfortable going. Now, her situation is MUCH better, and the trip’s urgency has significantly increased. I am scheduled to depart on Thursday. I will be sending back reports on the trip.

Most will faintly recognize the terrorist group identified as “Boko Haram.” This is an Islamist insurgent group that has been destroying Nigeria (and also Cameroon, Chad, and Niger). They will storm a village, kill all except the young girls who are kidnapped. A favorite target is schools—especially Christian schools. They vehemently hate Christians and are dedicated to murdering every Christian they meet. Boko Haram is associated with the Islamic State in West Africa (ISWA) insurgents. Many in the USA are unfamiliar with this evil that is spreading outside of Nigeria and becoming a radical, terroristic group with a worldwide presence. This is a real and present danger to our nation, as uncontrolled immigration (open borders) has allowed millions to enter our nation, and among those are members of this radical group. Warnings were first sounded around 2005, but were dismissed. Islam was encouraged in previous administrations, and today, many of the larger metropolitan areas have a very visible Islamic presence. In recent months, the Trump Administration has started to address this evil.
I have been in discussion with several contacts since last November about how to address this impending danger. In Nigeria, the danger has arrived. Below is an urgent plea I received from a brother in Christ. We have shipped several containers to him. Read his words and be constant in prayer. The Lord’s Church has a strong presence in Nigeria. You will remember that several years ago, Boko Haram raided a Christian school and kidnapped many teenage girls. The Christians in Nigeria are being slaughtered by the Islamists.

Below is a new security alert from the security agencies warning us of the infiltration of Boko Haram terrorists into the North Central and Southern parts of Nigeria. The bandits now take delight in kidnapping school children and teachers. In a recent attack, a vice principal and some other teachers and students were killed. Please pray for us that God may shield Nigeria from these agents of darkness. Pray that the Gospel may continue to run swiftly and go viral throughout the entire regions of Nigeria.”
