JOHN IS CURRENTLY ON HIS SPRING TRIP TO UKRAINE. PLEASE KEEP HIM IN YOUR PRAYERS.

Report #3 – March 16, 2022

Andre’s friends, a mom and dad, leaving their 5-year old daughter with relatives in Poland as they leave to fight in the war. They have gone to fight Russia at an undisclosed location. They left not knowing if they would ever see their precious daughter again.

We have now added the Czech Republic, South Africa and India to our list of nations who have joined us in the efforts we are coordinating for the War Relief in Ukraine!

These countries are either contributing commodities or offering various forms of transportation services. Thus far these nations have asked to join our efforts: Canada, Ghana, Poland, Romania, United States of America, United Kingdom, and Spain.

Warehouse in Lublin

Today has been spent in sorting items that we will take to the refugee center at Przemysl, Poland. This is about 1-click (1 km) from the border of Ukraine. This is a location where many refugees cross (actually there are several places where refugees cross). We sorted food, hygiene items, bedding, and a number of other items.

The warehouse where we went has received a number of shipments for the War Relief efforts. I think the first trucks to arrive came from Spain. The warehouse is filled with compassionate gifts from all over Europe! See some photos of our day’s work!

Check it off “done”

Our partners in Columbia, TN filled their FIRST container today at Graymere Church of Christ in record time with family buckets and other items! They had a wonderful group show up to load the container and the many hands made for short work.

Peter with airlifted surgical/medical supplies.

Andre delivered a suitcase of critically needed military tourniquets to Juliana at the medical center!

Peter delivered the 4 pallets of critically needed surgical supplies that were air lifted into Gdansk! These were the pallets that I delivered to Atlanta last week, and now they are already in Ukraine helping those in need.

Anya

Regular readers of UKRAINE MISSIONS NEWSLETTERS will know Anya as the coordinator of our vocational skills training classes in a number of orphanages in Ukraine. Here is a brief note from her.

Dear friends, Just a little update, we are still together with my family in the village in Western Ukraine. I praise God every day for the fact we are together. I have checked on all the orphanages, they are all used as places to host refugees now. In some there are about 120 people, in others 80, including families with newborns.

Alexandria orphanage managed to evacuate all kids to Lithuania! Thanks God! I was relieved to hear that.  I suppose they could do it, because it’s a Christian not government orphanage and the director could decide himself what to do quickly. And all other orphanages had to send kids back home to relatives or guardians.

Kremenchuk is relatively safe, though many sirens when the rockets /missiles are flying by. Baby orphanage is working and hosting kids from other unsafe regions. Kremenchuk had many refugees from Kyiv and Kharkiv. Many have crossed the border with EU or trying to do this. Some are going as far west as possible.

The seamstress Alexandra from TB orphanage is making special military fleece hats for the army now. I sent her support for the fabric. Ladies from Gradizhsk united to help refugees with food, hygiene items and such. So, everyone is keeping busy. Please, pray for us all and namely Egor, Alex and Larisa.

Hoping to see you one day in our country!

Anya

Possible Air Freight Connection

In search of donated air transport from the private sector comes this wonderful response!

I’m reaching out from Airlink in regards to a recent partnership application – thank you for your application. I understand that the request you have is urgent. Please let me know your availability and we’ll schedule a time for an intro phone call to explore partnership opportunities.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Looking forward to speaking with you further.

Brigid (from Airlink)

Hello Brigid, Thank you very much for your quick response. We flew to Poland to assess the situation and figure out all the logistical questions. We have set up all needed steps at the local customs and at the border to be able to get humanitarian aid smoothly to all parts of Ukraine. There are many items that are available at our warehouses that are urgent and can save lives.

We are looking for all possible ways of shipping donated supplies faster than sea freight.

Charita

Please keep this potential avenue in your prayers!

Hello Mark,

Thank you so much for reaching out to us and for your kind heart.  Receiving emails like this helps me feel as we are a part of the bigger picture and provide some hope for our future.  It is absolutely amazing how the whole world has come together to assist Ukraine in time of need.

I am connecting you with Christina and Vasile, they are working with refugees in Romania, I am sure they can provide you with information on how to proceed there. God Bless you.

Others continue to reach out when they hear of the work that we are doing in Ukraine and want to lend a hand.

Unite & Inspire is based in Texas, we would love to help the families & children suffering in Ukraine, can you plz let us know how we can be part of your efforts? We can raise palettes of supplies and monetary donations, we would like to know how we can collaborate with you towards this cause.

Thanks

Priya

I am thankful for your humanitarian work and assistance to Ukraine. I will forward Dr. Hawton’s message and the list of needed supplies to my doctor friends in Poland and in the States. I will be touch in case I have other questions.

I grew up in Wroclaw. Then moved to Portland, OR where I finished OHSU. My husband and I retired to South Africa. But we are in Poland and Portland very frequently.

Magdalena

Our work continues to be seen as a light for so many around the world, and for that I am encouraged and thankful. Please continue to remember us as we travel and the Ukrainians as they fight against the tyranny of Russia.
