Ivano-Frankivsk Construction Update (Nov 2021)

The WONDERFUL NEWS regarding the construction project in Ivano-Frankivsk in September was that we reached the financial goal needed for the congregation to complete construction. This milestone does not mean the entire project will be completed BUT we should be able to receive the required certificate of occupancy before the harsh winter weather strikes!

As all know, the basic costs of materials have skyrocketed in 2020-2021. Thankfully the Church in Ivano-Frankivsk had secured a large amount of supplies needed before the traumatic price increases hit. The congregation has also worked hard to do everything they can and reduce costs. All members are involved. Each is doing whatever they can to accomplish the objective. The objective is to assemble in a few rooms on the entry level and then complete the remaining rooms. The urgency at this point is to qualify to receive the occupancy certificate.

Occupying the building will reduce the electrical costs (it will not longer be classified as a construction site). It will also reduce the security requirements. There are a number of other cost reductions that will occur. The biggest “plus” is that the monthly rental will be able to be ploughed back into their own facility’s completion.

While I was there last month, the heating boiler finally arrived and was delivered. This heating system will use any fuel source—wood, coal, natural gas, electricity, and even trash! The system, fully fired, will heat for approximately three days (burning coal would cause it to last 7-10 days but burning coal is expensive) before the boiler has to be resupplied.

The heating is from a system that runs under the floors. There are no blowers or fans to push the heated air. The separated rooms will have radiators that heat from the boiler’s water.

The men of the congregation spend every spare minute working to reach the occupancy objective. Thanks to the amazing generosity of all who have donated to supply materials and construction costs, we are now looking at the point where occupancy can be granted! The brethren have told me that they cannot say the words to communicate the expressions and emotions of gratitude they have for those giving to partner with them in this construction.

A vapor barrier was installed first by rolling on a black sealant and then spreading an insulated plastic barrier upon which the heating tubes would be placed. The tubes were positioned and secured to the floor. Then concrete was poured making a tight seal.

After the concrete cures there will be ceramic tile laid on the concrete. All elements are designed to conduct the heat so the entire area will be heated. This is much more economical, and practical, than having a huge blower circulating the air.

Here are some brief updates and photos on the construction’s progress!

Greetings, dear brothers and sisters in Christ!

The construction of our meeting place is going on. We have finished the wiring of the first floor and have moved to the second floor. Since electricians were sick, we are two weeks late moving to the 2nd floor. We are running heating lines and hubs. The heating professionals are installing the heated floor in the big auditorium. Thank you for prayers and support. We pray to God that He will enable us to move to the new building by New Year’s. We love you and thank all of you

Greetings, dear brothers and sisters! We thank God for today we finished the heating on the floor in the main auditorium and started pouring out concrete overlay. Thank you for your support and prayers. We can’t wait to move to the new building and worship there. It will a great and joyful event, which we will celebrate together with you. We thank God for our unity in Him

Our auditorium is prepped to be overlaid with tile.

The Boiler install preparation required a great amount of work. The men of the congregation did all of the work themselves! The slideshow records the forming of the concrete pad, the blocking for the separate boiler room that is code, and the moving of the boiler into the boiler room!

NOTE: For a slideshow on the construction of the heating please go to the online post and the slideshow will be at the end of this report.
