Update – 10/26/2022

From Bucket distribution in Zaporozhe. Some were going through their “magic buckets”. There were letters from the families that put together the gifts. Someone found a soccer ball for the grandson! And one nice lady laughed and cried like a little girl, because her granddaughter had dreamed about a Barbie doll for a long time.

Now that I am on the other side of total knee replacement, I want to share some good reports with you.

Our partners in Zaporozhe continue distributing commodities we have shipped. The Region of Zaporozhe has been under heavy fire and attack by Russian troops. Thankfully the defenses have held and we continue getting supplies into points of distribution.

There was a media event that reported on one of the distributions. Once again, the “Family Buckets” have made a deep impression on the lives of those receiving these gifts. The published article is below in PDF. It was automatically translated but Tanya gives us a professional version. She translated two of the paragraphs:

Hi! Here’s a newspaper article from Zaporizhzhia talking about our buckets. The article is about volunteers giving aid to the residents of 2 streets in Zaporizhzhia which were hit hard but there’s a paragraph talking about our buckets.

Here it is:  https://mig.com.ua/dopomahaty-tomu-komu-najvazhche/

Anatoly Tiagunov, the head of the residential community of Potochna and Nyzhnia streets, took over the receiving of the humanitarian aid. He invited the residents of the apartment buildings that were damaged by shelling, mostly, older people. Volunteers from the “Always Together” Center gave away food packages and “magic buckets” as we call them. The contents of the buckets are very practical and nice at the same time. The buckets were given to our Benevolent Fund “Veterans of Chornobyl” by Ukraine Missions from the USA within the framework of their aid to Ukraine and are like emergency kits. We are thankful to John L. Kachelman Jr., who works with Churches of Christ, for the concern shown to our needs.

People who gathered on Potochna street on that sunny October day, looked sad. But having visited for a while, we started smiling at one another. Volunteers invited people, helped them carry their stuff to their homes. Some were going through their “magic buckets”. There were letters from the families that put together the gifts. Someone found a soccer ball for the grandson! And one nice lady laughed and cried like a little girl, because her granddaughter had dreamed about a Barbie doll for a long time.

Physical Rehabilitation Center in Ivano-Frankivsk

On the recent visit we met with a State Rehab Center that was moving from Kramatorsk to Ivano-Frankivsk. Vlad Paziy and Ivan Skoleba are partnered together in this effort. We are sending a container of PT equipment and Vlad and Ivan will distribute to the Center. The Director has said she’s very concerned that the full rehabilitation includes a spiritual side. Vlad is excited about the possibility of setting p such classes and the fruits resulting.

The Center sent a video greeting to us:

This is a video for you from the Rehab Center. Vlad showed them everything that’s coming for them and they were happy and thankful. Vlad is sending greetings to you.

Dear John! On behalf of the staff of the Rehab Center for Disabled “Donbass” we wish you a speedy recovery. We hope that the rehabilitation therapy will be a success. We pray to God for future meetings with you on our dear Ukrainian soil. Wishing you good health!!!
