Fall Mission Trip Report 17

Photo: A cluster munitions missile was launched by Russian forces and scattered the bomblets next to a camp where we were housing 250 children. The children had to be evacuated.

When Russia first invaded Ukraine (February 24) we were asked to move 125 children to a safe keeping place in western Ukraine. This was a summer camp that was able to provide heated sleeping quarters for the children. At that time many of you will recall these children had been in a bomb shelter and without food for several days. We were able to move some canned foods we had stored near Lviv and then others joined and helped supply food.

Some days ago I received word that the Russians had fired a cluster bomb and it was directed toward this children’s camp. They had to be moved. The below photos were cleared for this report by the military.

There was not another facility large enough for all to be moved together. So the children (whose number had swollen to 250 by now) were sent throughout western Ukraine. Families took 1 or more into their homes. It is uncertain as to when we will be able to move the children back.

Today there was a request for taking 30 more children who are being evacuated from Zaporozhe. The need increases as it seems the lodging availability decreases. Food is the number one request.

The designed evil of the “cluster bomb” is anti-personnel. It is engineered to maim and mutilate. It is designed to deliver multiple “bomblets” that are released before the delivery system hits ground. These bomblets are scattered and either explode in the air or explode when stepped on by a passerby. The delivery system used in the attack on the children’s camp held 48 bomblets.

Another group reported to me that they have drilled a well in a town where Russia has destroyed all water and sewer lines. There are 18 wells drilled in this community and provides water to the community. Not long after the citizens started lining up to fill jugs with water, Russia fired a cluster bomb at the well site. Shrapnel covered the building and steel doors but missed the water holding tanks.

There are many other instances like these two. There is absolutely no military value targeted. The only target is the general population that is trying to survive.

It is in the shadow of such horrible actions that the Lord’s church is working and doing everything possible to assist those suffering.

Thursday Gif and Perry travel back into Poland and we will rendezvous in Warsaw. We will depart for Montgomery and eventually arrive back there Monday afternoon!

Continue praying for our efforts!
