December 2018 Newsletter

Above Photo: “We spent the whole day at the warehouse today putting together buckets for people and sorting clothing for those in need. We also brought some food for the members and IDPs.”

Inside this month’s newsletter you will once again find encouraging news from brethren in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine. In addition to the reports from Ivan and Pasha you will read communication from two brethren in Ghana, Africa commenting on a container shipped to them last summer.

On a daily basis our struggles with the Ministry of Social Policy in Ukraine’s government continues. This newsletter references this on-going war. I have been contacted by the offices of three U.S. Senators (AL, MS, TN). They have contacted Ukraine on our behalf but they contacted the Embassy of Ukraine in Washington, DC and not the Kyiv government. Contact needs to be with the Kyiv government.

We were FINALLY allowed to distribute the container that was loaded in Montgomery last August (the one with 495 Family Buckets). But we still have a container of shoes that was shipped in mid-September and it has been held hostage by the TASK GROUP.

Last week we were told that we needed to give that TASK GROUP the following information: “Number of new shoes to end recipients providing the list of the end recipients (full name, social category, address), haven’t provided the complete list from the donor of new goods with the brand names, manufacturer, sizes, gender and the amount in each category.” The absurdity of this is seen in the fact these shoes will be going to orphanages where the population is fluid and getting names and information for 5,000 pairs of shoes. There is no way we can give this data!

Because of Ukraine’s government these children and vulnerable adults are being deprived of shoes in the harsh winter! But I guarantee you those in the TASK GROUP have very warm and expensive shoes!

There are those in Ukraine reading this and YOU have done NOTHING to address this crime. You CAN take action. You CAN address this crime and change the situation! No amount of prayers to icons, lighting candles, fasts, and honoring traditions will absolve you from not doing what you CAN do!

God’s punishment is to fall upon those who flagrantly commit crimes BUT ALSO upon those who stand by and do NOTHING!

Carefully read the Bible reference in Judges 5:23. There you find that those for whom God cared were being treated cruelly and God was sending relief BUT a group did not help God. Consequently, these were “cursed.” “Curse Meroz, said the angel of the LORD, Utterly curse its inhabitants; Because they did not come to the help of the LORD” (The Bible, Old Testament, Judges 5:23). Those who do NOTHING to help God had better fear for their eternal life because God’s wrath says they are “Utterly cursed”! Is this what you want your eternal soul to hear at the Judgment of God? God will NOT forget your doing NOTHING!
