Report #5—September 30, 2021

Today was a great illustration of how the Church works as salt, leaven and light! We visited several hospitals that have received commodities from our shipments and they were grateful for what had been sent. At one hospital in Lysets the Chief Doctor Taras saw us pull up and came to greet us. His face brimming with a smile and the first thing he said was “Thank you for sending the items in the container. Everything was just what we needed!” He specifically mentioned the chairs that had been sent saying that before the patients waiting had no place to sit at the in-take desk but now everyone loves sitting in those chairs. As we walked through the hospital there was an obvious contrast in the chairs where patients were waiting. Below is a photo of this contrast with the chairs we shipped on the left.

We visited Mayor Anatoly Romanovych. Anatoly has been a treasured friend for many years and has been a great partner in our efforts. We will be at the Village Day of Starry Lysets this coming Sunday afternoon and will at that time present the Mayor and the Village the second US Flag that Chip McEwen had secured.

The items that the Lysets hospital received were shipped by brother Jim Akridge and the church of Christ in Clarkson, KY. It was loaded by our warehouse warriors in Searcy/Judsonia, AR.

Among our other stops today was the “Railroad Hospital.” This is a large hospital that services the central part of Ivano-Frankivsk city. We went to the out-patient wing and talked with the Supervisor there. She was overflowing with gratitude for all that the Church has done to help them. Ivan has supplied them with sanitizer, masks, isolation gowns, and other PPE supplies. They have also received various furnishings for the hospital and offices. As we were standing in the hall of the Railroad Hospital I heard a power tool in a nearby room. Ivan opened the door and there was Kolya and Pasha! Ivan told me that the Church has been working on remodeling this room for the hospital. The Supervisor proudly said that the workers had all joined together and bought the new window and that the Church was repairing the electric, plumbing and walls. This will be a combined exam room and office for physicians. Ivan says that when all is completed there will be a door plaque saying the room has been remodeled and furnished by the Ivano-Frankivsk Church of Christ.

The remodeling is being done by the congregation with its own funds. The work is done by our brothers who go in their spare time and work there (these same brethren are also volunteering time, energy and talent in the construction of the Church building in order to help with the construction costs!).

There is no way to describe the positive impact that these efforts make for the Lord’s Church in this area! The willingness to sacrifice personal time for the Cause of Christ is applaudable!

GREAT NEWS JUST IN…Chip and Caleb are rescheduled to arrive next Saturday! Thankfully Delta did not charge any more ticket fees due to the COVID mess.

Calling for help in and around PEARL, MS! We have been offered 60 electric hospital beds with mattresses. These will be shipped to our brother Emmanuel in Ghana. We are to load these out of a nursing home and into a shipping container. The tentative date is OCTOBER 25. We need some help in this work. Please pass the word to congregations around Pearl, MS. Here is the address: Westeria Gardens, 5420 US-80, Pearl, MS 39208
