Report #11–April 3, 2018

The above photo shows you Sasha and Sonya Lagno of the Ivano-Frankivsk church of Christ. They are the children of Andrew & Marina who are students in the World Bible Institute/Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine!

Today dawned a bright and sunny day with an early morning temp of -2C! By later afternoon it had warmed up where you could walk without a coat, scarf and hat on!

The WBI class today went very well and the attendance and attention were very good. We continued our lesson on “Church Leadership.” This series is working very well as we are helping the congregation deal with some practical leadership issues. On Sunday John Durham and I called a men’s congregational meeting and in that gave a format for a meeting’s agenda, recording minutes, setting subsequent meetings, etc.

After today’s class and conversations, it was an opportunity to eat lunch with Volodya and Julia. They are living in Starry Lysets and are involved in a number of activities for the Lord’s Cause in that location. Volodya wanted to meet and discuss the plans for the Dalraida group that will be arriving in October.

The planning meeting went well and it looks like we will focus on two locations in the October mission trip. The first location will find us once again working in Starry Lysets and in Lysets and neighboring villages. Volodya has a group that meets in a village between Starry Lysets and Lysets and that is a potential work location but more attention needs to be given if that is a possibility. Volodya and Julia say they need at least 6 to work in the schools and in evening sessions.

The second location will be the village Ugorniky which has gifted the Church the property and where we are constructing a meeting place. This will be the first time that we have been able to do anything in this location. Ivan is making plans and talking with the Mayor to be sure all is coordinated in a proper way. Ivan is uncertain about the number needed in Ugorniky but it will probably be similar to what is needed in Lysets.

Plans for October are just beginning over here and more specifics will be coming. Basically, we will follow the format that proved successful two years ago when we first went to Starry Lysets.

Continue praying for our efforts and the opening of doors by which the gospel can be preached!
