Today began as a beautiful early autumn day in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine! Last night a storm had passed through and evidentially knocked out portions of the internet. Trying to send a simple message took an hour. This morning the service was still sluggish but thankfully by nighttime it is better.
Our timed in Ivano-Frankivsk will be spent teaching in the World Bible Institute extension branch. I am assigned to teach the Book of Revelation. The class began today. In teaching schedule calls for three classes per day and then a final exam. The first day went very well and the students were very attentive.
My book on Revelation was translated into Russian in 1997 when I was teaching in the Donetsk Region. Tanya is working to translate it into Ukrainian so it will be of use in the western sections of the nation. She has finished the first half but just has not had time to do the second half yet. Hopefully we will have it completed by the next visit.
Sharing time and space with me currently are Bill & Luba Wharton from FL. They have been teaching classes on marriage and giving instruction on counseling. Every Friday they teach a public class for the Church and visitors but all other sessions are privatey scheduled. John Durham (one of those Orange TN persons) arrived about a week before I did and he has 7 classes he is teaching on English in the Ivano-Frankivsk Law Institute. John has also prepared a very practical course for the local Church on “Spiritual Apathy.”
Dr. Gary Jerkins is excited about the upcoming Medical Seminar (“Becoming a Great Physician: The Christ Factor”) in March 2018. Yesterday I met with Emmanuel and a group of medical students that are involved in organizing this event. There are now SIXTEEN nations that will be represented at the seminar! This is amazing. Gary is still seeking Christian Healthcare Professionals who will come and spend 10 days here in a practical teaching seminar setting. If you know anyone that could help in this teaching please put us in contact. From the LRI warehouse we are shipping the medical supplies that will be used in the seminar. Just sit back and imagine the impact the Lord’s Church will have because of this seminar—SIXTEEN nations are already committed and Emmanuel says there are more on the verge!
