I have arrived in Kyiv, Ukraine! All flights were on time (or early) and all bags arrived with me! And now I’m working to reconnect my brain and my body as they are jet-lagging the eight hours difference from the USA to UA!
Today has been spent in various meetings and to-dos. One of the to-dos involved getting the final load documents sent express to the Republic of Georgia. These docs had been sent immediately after the loading April 6 but they were returned because the USPS computers never sent the package out of the country. As I was walking to print and send the documents I saw the above—this was covering an entire building that is being repaired. The words on the building cover shocked me and I instantly recalled every lesson in the series just completed (“Accepting the ANGER of God”). If you want the Postmodern philosophy in a nutshell here it is and decorated in a building wrap.
Our world has been beguiled into thinking that each person is able to define his/her own “freedom.” It is called “my personal reality” or “the world according to ME.” Many orient their entire decision-making matrix by “this is what I want MY reality to be.” So…throw away the biblical absolutes regarding morality, worship and doctrine…throw away the biblical prerequisites of denying self and taking up a cross…throw away the values and virtues that elevated mankind from savagery to humanity.
With “freedom” becoming one’s religion then your behavior is directed…legalize drug use, shovel contempt at authorities, disrespect and scorn those who uphold biblical doctrines…excuse, rationalize and justify those whose behavior is an “abomination” to the Lord.
The inevitable tragedy from such a “freedom” is a bitter slavery that brings despondency here and damnation hereafter. Mankind is either a slave to God or a slave to sin—it is his choice. Romans 6:16, “Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness?”
So here is the inevitable choice that is made on earth. It is shocking to observe how so many are willing to sit silently and let beloved friends, family and associates choose the “freedom” that results in a horrid suffering. HOW CAN THAT BE LOVE?
The one who boasts in a religion that is all “freedom” is an anarchist. The one who boasts in a religion that has “fluid” boundaries is a blasphemer and walks on the “wide path” that has “fluid” boundaries. The one who surrenders his freedom to the restrictions of Christ’s doctrines and follows exactly as commanded is a faithful servant who walks on the “strait path” that is restricted by the Bible and finds joy and life.
If you do not believe the philosophy announced by the above building wrap has insidiously invaded and infected the Lord’s People today then you need to wake up and look around! Inspiration urged Christians to wake up to this sinful malignancy:
“Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes…Therefore do not be partakers with them…walk as children of Light…Do not participate…but instead even expose them; for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them…For this reason it says, “Awake, sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you”…Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise…So then do not be foolish” (Ephesians 5:6-17).
No matter how well wrapped the philosophy is and how appealing it sounds…it is still blasphemy that rots the soul!
As I was walking from appointments today I went to “upper” Kyiv and in front of the Church of the Archangel Michael I saw a display of Easter eggs. These had been painted by various towns and groups. Some were very interesting. The display was amazing. Here are just a few of them…
