Photos and narratives described an incredible humanitarian catastrophe taking place in this nation on Africa\u2019s west cost. Through further investigation and discussion we decided that we had to try to respond to this urgent plea.<\/p>\n<p>The plea described the emergency as: \u201c<em>A huge increase in the population of orphans, refugees, and poor masses that are forgotten. There are not enough food or dwellings, shoes or clothing or other essential necessities for basic living.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The communication described Guinea as one of the poorest countries in the world with a population undergoing a lot of political turmoil.
