Superstition, witchcraft, magic, and astrology are usually associated with occultic ideas. The occult has seen a steady increase in our society without being specifically called the “occult.”  The very root of the word comes from a Latin word that deals with those actions, practices, or beliefs that reveal the unseen things. These “paranormal” experiences have bled into our everyday world in television, movies, and other spiritual practices.

The occult is appealing to many because humans have an innate sense to search after spiritual things. Many do not understand God’s existence and this translates into misunderstanding of spiritual forces.  It is not a result of insufficient evidence but ignorance of truth.  Since humanity has a constant desire for the spiritual, there are specific needs.  These needs can be satisfied by having a healthy knowledge of the truth and understanding how we can respond to the ideas presented by those who follow occultic ideology.

This ten lesson study examines the basic principles of the occult and how the Bible addresses these issues so Christians can understand the true nature of the spiritual world and seek after truth instead of error.  The lessons have handouts and PowerPoint slideshows for easy teaching.
